Portland Photographer Shoots Award-Winning Ad

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Photographer Michael McDermott shot the photos for an ad that won Vermont agency Acrobatix Worldwide a Telly Award for outstanding production of a local television commercial. The complete list of Telly winners was posted this week at www.telly.com.

The award-winning spot, part of the “Welcome” campaign for The Bank of Bennington, is being broadcast on ESPN, CNBC, TBS, Lifetime and other cable networks locally in Vermont, Massachusetts and upstate New York.

Featuring young homeowners, a retirement couple and a business owner, the spots focus on everyday people. The photographs portray real bank customers, not actors, highlighting McDermott’s flexibility and a knack for capturing candid moments with ordinary subjects and scenarios.

“The shots Michael took were amazing,” said Acrobatix CEO Sam Stern. “They really captured what we were looking to do. Without his great work on this, who knows if we would have won this Telly Award.”

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards honor outstanding cable TV commercials and programs. The judges are top advertising and production professionals and past Telly winners. More than 10,000 projects are entered annually. The Telly Awards receives entries from all 50 states and five continents. Contestants do not compete against each other, but each entry is judged on its own merit against high standards.
